Traffic guide

Most drivers are fairly confident in normal conditions, but have no experience of dealing with bigger trucks and lorries. The professional drivers of heavy goods vehicles must find it amazing when a car driver acts thoughtlessly, but this lack of attention can cause death and injury. A new guide, aimed especially at teenage drivers, explains how to share the road safely with large vehicles. The advice in the guide includes points that many drivers need to bear in mind.
- do not drive in a vehicle's blind spot. If you cannot see the driver's door mirrors, they cannot see you.
- take extra care when overtaking a truck, and allow extra space
- leave adequate room behind your car when you pass in front of a lorry - they cannot apply the brakes as fast as a small car.
The guide is available free to driving schools, and the publishers also offer free car insurance quotes
